For a long time I have been strugling with understanding the bible. What happened at the council of Nicea? Did a lot of the bible disapear? What about all the pagan holidays and teaching that was joined with christianity,, ?? I belive in God and praying.. I pray almost every night. But I dont belive in organized religion and a lot of what is in the bible. So I guess what I am asking is what religion do I fall under.. Is there a title for me or am I independent?? Sorry for the spelling.. I am really tired

  1. Believing in God and prayer is a good way to go :)

Look into Islam if you like - One God, Jesus is a Prophet and not a son of God or anything like that. Islam does not include the Trinity. We do acknowledge that Muhammad (peace be upon him) was the final Messenger and accept all the Prophets that came before him (from Adam to Jesus).

  2. Please consider reading what this man discovered:

  3. Deist.

Edit - Deism isn't a religion, it is a belief. A belief in God but no religion.

  4. You sound like me. I think that the teachings of God are very misinterpreted by mankind.  The bible has many valuable morals and lessons that I think should be followed however science has disproved many things.  Science can explain how things happen but never why things happen. Of course there has to be natural laws but who created them and why.  Your religion may be contemporary christianity, or something liek that i can not remember the exact name.

  5. you dont need to join any religious group.the faith in GOD is freely given to anyone who believe in GOD in the name of HIS son Yehshua/Jesus Christ.Enjoy this priviledge of having faith without joining other groups.always acknowledge GOD,read the bible, every life situation has answer from his words, apply them if necessary/appropriate/needed.in the middle ages men used to be honest but now a days, men manipulates everything for their own interests.you are not alone but believe me GOD answers prayers when you trust HIM with your whole heart! He  is a perfect companion !

  6. id say youre a spiritual person, which is actually better, you dont need to follow the masses and all the hype, a relationship with god needs to be personal

  7. It sounds like you're almost deist, but not quite.  You seem to believe in the Abrahamic God, but don't follow any of the organized religions involved.  You could do worse.

A former (Catholic) girlfriend used the term "ethical monotheist".  That seems as good a label as any.

  8. Don't be concerned about what you don't know , be concerned with what you do know  ..God's word is truth just as He is truth , they go hand in hand ~

  9. Non-denominational christian approaching deist.

Understanding the buy-bull is a struggle if you try to make the pieces fit as religion tells us they should. If you read it with a completely open mind and without any preconceptions you will find it very easy to understand, and fiction. It is clearly a human edited, socially constructed collection of stories written by many authors over centuries, based on the zodiac, modeled after all the Pagan writing before it, with ingredients so that it fits into a historical time line.

Agnostics may believe in a god. To be agnostic means to lack knowledge. It can be about anything but is often used relating to god belief. It means that one does not have enough information to determine if a god does or does not exist. It however does not answer the question. You either believe in a god or gods or you don't. One cannot be only an agnostic. It is not half-way between theist and atheist.

Celebrate would be incorrect. I assume you mean why worship on Sunday versus Saturday. In the new testament Jesus invites his followers to worship with him on Sunday.

  10. searching for truth.  Find Jesus first.

  11. Which God do you believe in and pray to? The answer will point you to that religion! The funny thing is you don't believe in organized religions and yet want to be classified in one! And...

What do you mean by organized religion?

You don't have to believe in one, but you can believe the religion. Do you mean: you wish to be a Christian but not in any denomination?

You have a lot of questions; why don't you google them to find out/compare the answers? Most of your questions, you'll have to break them down one by one. You can't suddenly jump from pagan history of dates to church corruption!

  12. Have you been born again, born of the (Holy) Spirit?

You can never begin to really understand God until the sin issue is dealt with in your life.

Sin separates us from God, and only when we accept God's testimony concerning Jesus of Nazareth - that He was sent by God the Father from heaven, that He died for your sins according to the Scriptures, that He was buried and that He rose from the dead according to the Scriptures,

and that by believing in Him we are granted forgiveness and restored to a relationship with God - only then can we begin to understand.

But it is with the heart, not merely the head that we must embrace this truth.

God Himself, in the Person of Jesus Christ suffered for you, so that you would not have to pay an eternal penalty for your sins.

Such a God as this is worthy to be trusted, loved and obeyed.

  13. Read the "red" and do what Jesus said, all the rest is man-made churchianity.

  14. The bible was not a big book of info until a bunch of people in the middle ages pooled a bunch of manuscripts together and called it a book. I mean, how do we even know that the different books are talking about the same God?

You are a true Christian. You believe the true ways... There was never meant to be an organization called the "Church". There was never meant to be leadership among believers. The bible is nothing more than the compilation of many writings that are said to speak of the same God.

You're doing what you're supposed to: learning about God from Him directly. There can be no better way to do so.

The first Christians didn't have the bible. They didn't have Church, and tithe, and Christian specific holidays and festivals. The only thing that united the first Christians was their love for God.

  15. I don't doubt any of God's truth in the Bible. The truth is still there even with translation errors, and there are errors. You just have to dig a little deeper for it. A lot of searching, a lot of study, a lot of comparing with Hebrew and Greek dictionaries. It takes a genuine hunger and thirst for God and His truth. But we have a whole lifetime to do it.
