  1. There are a couple things you can do.  I would put socks over your hands, if your sitting around doing nothing you will start biting.  Also if you cut some chili peppers and get it under your nails really good,  you wont want to put them in your mouth.

  2. i bite my nails too :(

i always get jealous whenever i see a girl with pretty long nails... so i wear fake ones!

wear this special formula on you nails... so that you wudn't wana bit them..

  3. I used to bite my nails, and believe me, I tried everything to stop. All of the foul products out there, I just got used to the taste. I even worked on a cattle station and had really disgusting stuff on my hands all day long, I wouldn't bite my nails through the day, I would just wait til I got home and they were clean, and I would chew away. I was hopeless.

I ended up getting acrylic nails put on over my nails, and once they were on and I couldn't bite them anymore, I saw a hypnotherapist once a week, who helped a lot. I did this for about 6 weeks, keeping up the acrylic nails and the hypnotherapy sessions. Now I have the acrylic nails off, I have lovely long nails, and not a single urge to bite them. It was a little costly, but I found that my little regime worked.

  4. I used to bite my nails...but then my step mom got me this nail polish called no bite. It's really gross tasting, and the taste stays in your mouth for 5 minutes or so, put a new coat of nail polish on every morning and your good to go.

  5. My little cousin used to have this problem when she was younger. What my aunt used to do was paint her nails with nail polish that stays on good, so she couldn't easily pick it off. It actually worked because after the first time she tried to bite her nails with nail polish on, she never did it again because the taste was bad, and she kept finding little pieces of nail polish in her mouth all day. I think that would def. work. Or just get fake nails, you can't bite those off (: .

  6. Exercise or throw yourself into work.  Whatever keeps you busy.

  7. I had the same problem with nail biting... it was though! I tried to quit since i was a kid and only succeeded at 21 lol

There is this nail polish that makes your nails bitter, so you'll stop biting - here's some i found at folica.com (but there are other brands too) :

A friend tried this method and it worked. After a while (few weeks?)of going to bite and tasting the bad taste and stopping herself, she realized she had stopped going for the nails altogether.

It didn't work on me, though, because i just got used to the bitter taste and kept on biting :[ ...

So this is how i quit:

I sat down one day and made a conscious decision to stop. Whatever absent minded pleasure i got from biting my nails when i was idle or nervous was not worth having S****y nails that look like a 5 year old's when nail polished. I just had to pause, focus and STOP.

So everytime i caught my self hand in mouth, biting, I would put the hand down. Even if one nail had already been bitten, I would not continue on to its nail friends. I also gave my friends authorization to smack my hand if they saw me biting. Because when i used to bite, most times i wouldn't even notice until the deed was done...

The other thing i did was take really good care of them and paint them. because after all that work, it felt like a total waste to bite. I would soak them and fix them up once a week (with the cuticle trimmer, file, whatever) and then apply a base coat nailpolish and then colour on top. Sometimes, when i could't stop myself i ended up just chipping the nail polish part and leaving my nail alone and safe.

Another thing i did, since i bit mostly when i was idle (watching movies, etc) i started putting on my winter gloves lol I know this is pretty stupid but it worked. If i was gonna sit down and watch a movie with my guy, i would go get my cheap wool gloves. So when i was distracted by the movie, up comes the hand to bite and.. PFFFT wool in my mouth! When you are consciously trying to quit, you are not gonna take the glove off and bite, you just put that hand down :)

So yeah it's been 4 years and my nails finally feel safe that they won't be eaten :] Good luck - you can doo eeet!

  8. I do that alot to! ok put somthing u hate the taste on ur nails like vinigar or somthing and then u will stop

  9. I used to bite my nails when I was little until I got braces put on, but when they came off I started biting my nails again. So now that I don't paint my nails anymore, I either chew gum or write and it works.

  10. Biting your nails is a nervous habit, so maybe when you see yourself biting your nails, try and do something else instead. Chew gum, go do the laundry, clean your room.

  11. i bite my nails too.

there is some clear nail polish youu can pu on youur nails thats tastes vile.

it worked with me but youu have to put it on everyday.

else youull get used to the tase and wont mind.

hope i helped.... from former nail biter x
