  1. This is Carnival's cancellation policy from their web site:

"No refunds will be made in the event of “no shows”, unused tickets, lost tickets, interruptions, partially used tickets, or cancellations received late or after the start of the cruise. A cancellation occurs when a stateroom is released and not simultaneously rebooked on the same sailing.  Cancellation charges for individual bookings will be assessed as listed below.

    DAYS PRIOR TO DEPARTURE DATE

    2, 3, 4 & 5 DAY CRUISES  CANCEL CHARGE (per guest)

Up to 61 days ......  None (except cruises to nowhere*)

    60 to 30 days ......... Deposit**

    29 to 8 days  ........   50% of Total Fare

7 days or less  ........  100% of Total Fare

    DAYS PRIOR TO

    DEPARTURE DATE 6, 7 & 8 DAY CRUISES

                                       CANCEL CHARGE (per guest)

Up to 76 days .........      None

    75 to 30 days  .........     Deposit

    29 to 8 days    ..........    50% of Total Fare

7 days or less  ..........   100% of Total Fare"

If you paid your deposit by credit card it will probably take 4 to 6 weeks for the credit to appear on your statement.  Cruise lines do not make credits as fast as they make charges.  Then there will also be a delay in the time you actually receive your card statement with the credit.

If they told you that they were going to credit your account I suggest that you wait about a week and then call them to be sure that the transaction is being processed.

  2. Yes you will get it back.  They will credit your CC that you put the deposit on.

  3. What is the company policy on cancellations. With such a quick cancellation, I would think you would get your money back.

  4. YES unless it was under penalty, it can be if Final payment was due that day, I would never book directly go with a travel agent they usually get you a better deal, Heres a site I use often.

  5. I'm a travel agent and yes they should return your $500 deposit unless it's noted otherwise.  Did you book directly through carnival? If so call them and ask when it will be refunded. If you paid by credit card they will just credit it back. Since it was the same day you should be fine.  You can check out my website if you would like you may be able to contact carnival through it. www.mysunnydaygetaway.com

    Good Luck!!!!

  6. Yes you will get your money back, its only a DEPOSIT.

Since the card was processed instantly,  then you cancelled the cabin,  your refund should show up in 7-10 days on your Credit Card.

  7. You should get it back. Two years ago I booked a cruise wih 5 friends on Carnival Fascination and one had to cancel literally 3 hours later. They refunded her deposit immediately and she recieved a check within two weeks with no problem because of the time we cancelled.
