  1. That's a pretty good deal, make sure it's ready to ride, getting the carbs cleaned costs a few bucks and it many used bikes you buy need that.

That's a good bike to start on. A 600 in a sport bike is a whole different experience than a 600 cruiser so just be careful with the power until you get comfortable. I started out on an 800 but it was a cruiser.

As for when you start riding, start in your neighborhood or even a parking lot. Get comfortable with the bike, turning, the throttle and where the clutch engages. Get real comfortable on the bike before you venture out into traffic.

    Good luck!

  2. great learner bike, Used and small.

now, keep the revvs low, and get used to shifting...

once you get some confidence, you can start shifting later and later, gettin more into the power band...

My bike has a "hyper drive" that kicks in about 7000 rpm

  3. A 600 isn't bad at all for a beginner bike. A lot of people will say that's probably the biggest you should go starting out and a lot of people will say that's where you should start out (ie "getting tired of a 250 in a week"). I think the best thing to do is to take an MSF safety course. They will teach you how to ride safely and handle a 600. You can't put a price on your safety.

  4. Just 2 words of advice bud; THROTTLE CONTROL.

As long as you have it you will be golden.

  5. try to remember you not as big as the rest of the vehicles and they might not see you on the rode, when your turning in to somewhere and you have to stop in the rode watch your mirrors to make sure no one coming up behind you to quickly
