I called Sears and they told me 3 different answers. First there was no warranty left even thought i was still paying for it. Then i talked to the second person at corporate customer service that said they would fix it free of charge. Then when i called back to see when the compressor would be in they told me that sears wouldn't do anything for me. I went to the sears that i had bought the fridge from and they offord me $150.00 of the $700.00 dollar repair bill on a defective compressor. i still owe 400.00 dollars on the fridge in payment (24 month plan)..Sears use to have great service or did they maybe i had good luck before. A very disapointed x customer of Sears...

  1. Sears has been having a lot of problems with their refrigerators. You are definitely not the first to complain.

You do have some options though. First check to see if there is a recall on that particular fridge. This one is Sears own site but I would look for the national gov't site of recalls.

Second you may wish to lodge a "formal" complaint to Sears in writing. I understand that you have spoken to several crs but bypass them and ask to speak to a Manager and see if that will make a difference. If none of these work then you should lodge a formal complaint with the Better Business Bureau at: Please keep copies and notes for your own records.

There are lots of forums where people advise others about their experience with Kenmore products. Check them out - at least you can vent:

    Consumer Affairs:

You can also write a letter of complaint to the Attorney General. Make sure you keep copies of all correspondence to whomever you are writing to.

I think you should also consult your manual to see if the compressor's warranty is longer than 1 year.

Hopefully these will help you in your battle.

    Good Luck

  2. When you talk to somebody at Sears or Kenmore or

any company for that mater make sure to always

take down their name and ext number

so if someone tells you that they will fix it

at least you have their name and phone number

    to comeback to
