I bought a PlayStation 3 for a 100$ need some advice?

Im just wondering if I hook it up to play online is there a way to trace it back to me.

  1. If you use the online, they will trace you back to the system anyway. Having the previous owner's username would make it easy for them to find you, but they can see your PS3's serial number online. Even without that, they have a lot of separate identifying things integrated within the PS3. And if you bought it stolen, and you didn't know it. You aren't going to jail or anything.  


  2. I not sure what your worried about being traced back? Your PlayStation Network name should appear when you play - So I'm still confused on what your asking, but your personal information cannot be found by playing online.

  3. So assumably it is stolen. It could be traced back to your IP address - that is if it is being looked for. Unless you are stealing that too.

  4. If its a stolen unit sold to you and you log into the previous owners account, sony will trace it back to you.. they have caught many people like that (source: gizmodo)

    so what i would advice you, is create a new user name.. delete the old one and continue using online.. but make sure it is not a stolen unit from the seller. if not then you should be fine
