  1. If it won't fit, I'd bet that you got the lens in the wrong mount.  Do an exchange if you can.  If it's from eBay, read the description and see if they said what mount it was for.  You might have to sell it and get the right mount lens, if you got it used.

Nikon cameras take the Nikon F-mount.

Canon cameras take the Canon EF or EF-S (digital only) mount.

Pentax uses a K-AF mount; Sony uses a Minolta AF mount.

  2. I hope you bought a Nikon version?

Sigma makes this lens with mounts for several brands. If you bought one for Canon.... well... that won't fit for sure...

Otherwise, if it is a Nikon version - are you mounting it properly? What exactly won't fit? Do you match the little dots on the camera and on lens when you insert it?

    LEM.

  3. If you bought one with a Nikon mount, then you should have no problem.

With the camera body looking towards you, mount the lens with the top (look for a white line on the lens) turned to about the 2:00 position.  You'll see a white dot on the D200 body to align the lens.  Then rotate it counterclockwise.  It should click into place.

To remove it, press the release button (3:00 on the camera body) and rotate the lens clockwise.

With the correct mount, your Sigma lenses will work fine, as I currently have two that I use with my D200.
