I bought a Sony DCR-DVD610 camcorder. I think it records in NTSC format. Will it play on Indian DVD players?

  1. Most DVD players don't care what TV standard the video's in  - they just read the disk and send a signal to the TV.  A lot of TVs are dual standard, so they'll play PAL and NTSC (there are different versions of NTSC, just to make life more complicated!).    Chances are you can set the TV to detect the standard automatically, so you don't need to worry about it.


  2. Well, I think it is even easier - most DVD players (even those around $30)  (I went through about 4 of them + two in $60 range during last 4 years) not only play both PAL and NTSC discs, but even convert it to the Tv standard of the country you bought the players to play on regular Tv.

    So even if I've never been in India, I bvelieve, that it would play NTSC DVD on your local Tv.  

    By the way if not - then pop the DVD in your computer and recode it in the other format....
