  1. DREFT! it's meant  for newborns & babies. It also makes their clothes/blankets extra soft and smells good.

  2. Most prints have that smell. The sizing used on print fabrics is different than that used on solids because fabric has to be stiffer to go through the printing process, and the stiffening compound tends to smell bad. All washable fabric items (for baby or otherwise) should always be washed at least once before use to remove the sizing.

By the way, the idea that Dreft is better for babies' clothing than other detergents is purely a creation of the marketing department. Tide Free is just as safe (since fragrance is the number one irritant in any product) and is much cheaper than Dreft, at least where I live.

  3. When it comes to baby stuff i have always given them a wash through beforehand, just on a worn once wash not a hot but cool/cold one just to take the newness out of them, that should get the smell out, even put in a clothes softener in the wash with a gentle soap powder, as you can get something like Fairy or Persil or Dreft, well they are the one we have in the U.K.

  4. Well I would just wash the entire set in Dreft a couple times. Dreft is amazing and I wouldn't use anything else on my babies stuff. His bedding set was a little smelly from being in the bag and in the store for so long but it is perfect now. Just make sure you wash everything bumpers, curtains, sheets, comforter, etc. whatever you may have becasue it will all fade a little bit of course.
