I bought a boat trailer from the neighbor of a friend, and he was supposed to get the title asap for me. He ended up moving and I have no contact info. I looked all over the trailer for a vin or registration number of any kind, and there is nothing. It for a 14' aluminum boat, I really would like to get it titled and registered, I'm just not sure what to do now. Anyone know how to go about getting this in Washington state.?

  1. If the trailer is not home built...the manufacturer hides vin nos. all over the trailer...If you can tell who the manufacturer is...Contact them 1st.,find out what the vin no. is, then get in touch w/DMV and they will contact the previous owner for you etc. Or you might want to just simply want to go w/a reconstructed title...Then they will give you brand new vin numbers, no problem...

  2. You are screwed without a title.  You are going to have to find this person somehow to get this title.

  3. go tell the mv thats its homemade and you want to reg it how do you do it  they will tell you

  4. register it as homemade.

  5. file for lost title that you can do and its legal.

  6. Just a guess.  Hopefully, you got a bill of sale.  The State where I live has a process to retitle older things without serial numbers (whatever) and I'm sure Washington does too.  They might have a clue as to where the number might be.  I think my son's was on the under side of the tongue (whatever it's called).  You won't be the first or last.  You'll need something to get insurance on the darn thing, so maybe your insurance company can help.

  7. P T Barnum was right.

There IS one born every second !

    Good luck !

  8. apply for a lost title through your local department of motor vehicles
