  1. The dmv will issue a new title. It may take a while due to the messy, ill thought out, poorly prepared and documented transactions you have ensnared yourself in. Better just go down there. Wear your thinking cap!

  2. 1. Go to DMV and ask for an "inquiry" printout. You will need the whole VIN number.

    2. Call a local title clerk/agent and ask what to do and how much is the fee.

  3. Well, Rick, you may have bought yourself a whole lot of hassel.

    1)  You need to find out who the State considers to be the legal owner of the vehicle.  Start at the DMV for that.

    2)  You will need to contact that person or entity to see if you can do it the simple way and have them simply sign off a duplicate bill of sale or pink slip or whatever your state calls it.

    3)  Lacking that, you are going to have to enforce some kind of Lien sale.  The laws on that vary from state to state so its back to the Florida DMV for that information also.

    4)  The final option is to contact your relative, and see if you can get your money back or have him perfect the title for you because all of the first three options are definately going to cost you more time and more money on your part.

    good luck..
