I bought a digital recorder but sometimes the tv guide is blank so i cant record anything . solution please?

  1. Plug it into a computer UPS so that it does not loose power.  Keep it connected to the cable TV so that it downloads the guide on a consistent basis.  Read the manual and find out how to do a manual recording (you start it when the show starts or it goes based on channel and time instead of the guide -- if this is possible with your recorder).


  2. it has to be connected at all times - if you have one of those shutoff switches that denies all power to the "power vampires" - your TV and your DVR - you have to stop using it.  You can turn off the TV with it, but not the DVR.  The DVR has to be able to sync with the signal from either the cable company or the satellite, depending on what your TV service is in order to receive the new data as the shows change week to week.
