I bought a firewire to usb cord of of ebay, for my mini dv jvc camera.?

when i try to put video onto windows movie maker it says camera not detected what do i do so i can put video on to there, if there is a way to do it without buying a firewire port plz tell me

Sorry, but those "adapters" are like buying a funnel so that you can pour diesel into your petrol tank - everything gets connected but nothing actually works!   Firewire cards are cheap, easy to install and readily available.

Do yourself a favor and get a REAL firewire IE1394 card wether it be PCI or PCMCIA.   It's really easy to install!   Also do yourself another favor and DON'T use Windows Movie Maker.  It's a cheesy Joke compared to real editing software like Sony Vegas.
