I bought a gaming computer and it has 2 graphics cards, this may be a stupid question but Why?

I tapped the keg a bit too much one night and got on line and bought this DELL XPS 630i gaming computer, I don't use it, as I do not game.

(i just thought it looked cool, its red).

but it has 2 video/graphics cards. (and each one has 2 DVI, I think they are called, you know the ones that are white connects ) why? what are they for? stupid i know but humor me please!

(so that is 4 DVI inputs on one computer.

  1. If you're into gaming, everyone would want 2 graphics card in their computer. It basically just makes the graphics in games run smoother, as in smooth frames per second (fps).

    ATI's dual graphics card system is called Crossfire.

    nVidia's dual graphics card system is called SLI.

  5. Thats the SLI feature to link two identical cards together to combine the power to run together, you really would use just 1 of the 4 connector.

  6. The cards are seperate but each one on it's own can support two monitors. I used to run two monitors. One to play games while having the other open on the internet so I could surf the net without shutting down the game if I needed too.
