I bought a laptop recently from an online ad, and when I brought it home, I found that it had a user password, which I don't know. How can I get past that password so that I can access the computer?

  1. Ask the seller what the password is.

If it's a BIOS password that's the only way (other than proving to the manufacturer that the computer wasn't stolen and paying them).

  2. If you can, get the password from where you bought it.  If you can't, feel free to email me and I'll send you a link to a good spot.  I don't like making it too easy for people to hack computers in case they shouldn't be.  :-)

  3. LOL That's funny!  Call the owner and ask them for the password . . . unless you can restore the whole laptop.
