I went to Best Buy to buy a laptop, and the sales guy told me that anything without Centrino would be obsolete within a year. He advised me to buy this Dell 1525 instead of the pentium one I wanted that was cheaper. The printed Best Buy info on the Dell said it had Centrino, and he told me it was exactly the same as the HP with Centrino that was next to it. I bought this one and got it home and after doing a bit of reading realized it doesn't have Centrino.

My question - How important is it that it doens't have Centrino? I don't know much about computers. Is it worth taking it back over or is it still a good laptop?

this is the one I bought -

  1. you got rooked. take it back...IF.. you don't have to pay more for one with Centrino Intel processor

  2. The funny thing is, people in PC stores these days seem to know nothing about the things they're selling, so generally don't listen to them :P

The PC you've bought has an Intel Core 2 Duo processor (As opposed to an Intel Centrino); Core 2 Duos are FAR better than Centrinos, so don't worry.

Look at it this way, the Core 2 Duo is basically two cores running at once, an Intel Centrino equivalent probably isn't even as good as just one of those two cores.

  3. this processor in your laptop is better, then centrino

    so you've lost nothing
