I bought a laser light for my cats yesterday?

They are absolutely going crazy over it! When I stop playing, they look for it everywhere. Is this a safe toy or can it be dangerous for their eyes?

Is safe, unless you are shinning the laser right at their eyes.

it's very safe as long as you don't EVER point the laser directly in their eyes. My cats go crazy for the little red dot too. It's great entertainment. Give them some catnip, then use the lazer, sit back and laugh.

The other posters have mentioned the hazards of shining the light directly into their eyes. That cannot be overemphasized. You will permanently damage your cats' eyes if you shine the light in their eyes.

However, I would also add that if there are any reflective surfaces (ie mirrors or polished metal objects like doorknobs) the light can be accidentally reflected into their eyes with the same very unfortunate outcome.

Try this one out: get a large fairly filmy piece of cloth that you won't mind it being shredded. When one of your cats dives under it, run the laser light across the back of it - being ESPECIALLY careful not to shine it near their eyes and then watch your kitties go completely insane. A venerable whirlwind in your living room.

Finally, try to keep up this habit of getting your cats to zoom around like the lunatics they are. It's a great way for them to get some exercise.

It will be ok if you are just shining it on the floor or the wall , but don't shine it in the kittens eyes . I know that you defiantly can't shine it in children's eyes so i would say it was the same for any animal xx

I have one for my kitten too! She loves it and if we stop she constantly searches for it. Its safe, just don't shine it in the kittens eyes. We actually got ours at the pet store.

It is wise to use it occationally and with care none can predict an accident which will leave you with agony only.Moreover frequent use of the same will not be charming to them for long.

It is a safe toy. Don't shine it directly in their eyes, just make it zoom around the room so they can chase it.
