  1. Use Teflon tape wrapped around the threads.  Wrap them in the direction that you turn the shower head when you install it.  That should take care of the leak.  Good luck.

  2. u should not have to use teflon tape to install the new shower head!

inside the threaded fitting is a washer or should be a washer.

make sure it is in there and when you tighten the shower head use a pair of channel locks and so you don't scar the new SHWR. HD. put a rag over it then tighten it until you feel pressure on your grip of the channel locks. now don't be hercules and over tighten, that will cause the washer to fail and result in a leak also. do not use plumbers putty!!!!

that will not work i am 100% sure it is the washer inside the fitting

    ok college dude

  3. You should use teflon tape around the threads ( clockwise 3 or 4 turns ) before installing the head. None of the other things mentioned are designed for this purpose.

  4. If you can't return it, try replacing the rubber gasket or use some caulk also.  Plumbers putty will go on too, but I think it's brown.  Use just enough to cover and seal.

  5. i vote for teflon tape.

  6. Plumbers putty is for attaching faucets and drains, Use teflon tape. If the fitting on the shower head is metal you should be fine with the teflon tape but if it is plastic and s******g onto metal then be prepared to take it back until you get one that doesn't leak.

  7. just to re-ssure the previous answers it sounds like you needed to install teflon tape before attaching the fixture. The tape kind of resembles athletic tape. It's a white clothe like tape that you can pick up at home depot or lowe's for about 2$.
