  1. You should never have to re-size a chain on a new bike. They should come with the correctly sized chain regardless. I'm not exactly sure what would cause the chain to break so easily. The master link might just have popped off. Either way take it to the shop you bought it from and have them fix it. If they are a good shop they will take care of this for you without a problem.


  2. Did you fit it? If so, yes you should have made sure the chain length was correct. Refer to Sheldon on this:

    if not, take it to the shop that did it.
