old and does not have the HDMI slot in it. I bought the component av cables to be able to use the upconvert feature, however.....all my 5 hole component cable slots in the back of my tv are being used by the hd hookup and my surround sound/old dvd player. My question is can I reroute my surround sound cables to just the audio 3 holes so I can use the vacant 5 hole for the upconvert? Thanks

  1. Well you might have to unplug something on the back of the tv to make room for the tv or if your receiver has component video inputs use that. Another option is getting an Intec HDMI/Component AV Selector which will let you connect multiple component video sources to it then output one set of component cables to the TV.

  2. well first of all PS3 is a waist of $$$$ you should have bought a Xbox 360 or if you have that much $$$ you could have got an Xbox 360 Elite  I got one of those and it ROCKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!...

  3. First, since you claim you have an HDTV, check if it has a DVI port. DVI was standard in most of the early HDTVS.

If you have a DVI, use a DVI to HDMI cable for video and a separate audio cable for audio.

If your surround system has an AUX digital audio input then connect the video from the PS3 to the TV and the digital audio from the PS3 output to the surround system digital audio in - No need to connect video from the old DVD player to the TV.
