  1. That sucks! Not much you can do about it unless is was a certified used car.

    Weld it up!

What type of car....year make model?

  2. Lacking a written sales contract to the contrary, all used vehicles are sold as is.  It could be the seller had no idea of the problem.  Obviously when you had it inspected before you bought it your mechanic missed it, or you wouldn't have bought it, right?

And perhaps it was fine when you bought it, but you did something to crack the frame during the month you have been driving it.

  3. From what i understand...that's illegal...Go down there and let them know you are going to get an attorney if they don't fix it! They cannot sell a care that's unsafe....Good Luck

  4. I'd go after whoever you bought it from. Especially if it had passed an inspection. If it has, the inspecting mechanic will lose their certificate. And you should go back with a clear head and mellow attitude at first, and just point out that you just want them to make it right, and they should be thankful that the cracked frame did not come to attention because someone got hurt.

  5. It wouldn't happen to be an '86 Accord, would it?  I bought one that was impacted on the RF tire, which cracked the frame.  They didn't tell me when I bought it (in '95) that it had a cracked frame.  But I did tell the guy who bought it from me a few years ago (for $20.00) that it had a cracked frame.

All you have to do is find a good welder and they'll fix it up.  Sometimes, a frame can crack without the seller knowing it.

  6. Most states and provinces have a law that allows you to return your car after 30 days if you find something like this out after you purchased it. DON’T HAVE IT REPAIRED, get another car, even if you have to wait it out...this car was probably in a car crash and repaired.

I'd call another used car dealership, maybe one run by a car manufacturer and see what they say.....Good luck!

  7. Very, very illegal if this is a dealership. Once a frame is bent, cracked, whatever, the car is usually salvaged. Were you give a salvaged title? If not, threaten to get an attorney. If that doesnt help...then really get one. If you bought this from a private seller, there might not be much you can do, because the seller can and most likely will say that you knew the frame was cracked.
