Okay so I bought a used ACER Computer from a small computer shop. The PC was used in a local School District. I can't log in to windows because I don't know the password. How do I get around this? I've tried to get to DOS to format but I still need a password. Thanks!

  1. If you have a Windows XP CD then just put that into the computer and reformat the entire thing. Otherwise I suggest a program called OPHcrack, its a live software about 500MB that you put on a CD and reboot the computer with the CD in and it will tell you the password.

  2. Something is not quite right with your story.

Why would a computer shop sell a used computer with a  Windows password already on it?

(Could you sell a car without keys?)

Either the computer shop did not wipe the hard drive,

    (Unlikely)

or you're planning on hacking your school's computer.

In either case, I can't help you.

  3. Try running it in safe mode, going into the account, i don't know if you still need the password, creating a new account, and deleting the admin one

  4. I can tell you how to make a new admin user

If you have a limited account then go in and press windows button on the keyboard (the button between Left alt and left ctrl)+r. This will open the "run" program. now type in "cmd" This will open Command prompt or dos. Same thing.

    now type in

    net user ??????? !!!!!!!!!!

where the ? s are the characters for the new username you want to create and the ! s are the characters for your password and press enter.

voila the new account is created

If you don't have a limited account than boot into DOS. which I think you already know how to and type in

    now type in

    net user ??????? !!!!!!!!!!

where the ? s are the characters for the new username you want to create and the ! s are the characters for your password and press enter.

voila the new account is created

  5. Do this.

Put the windows Xp cd in the drive

    Go into your BIOS

and change your boot sequence so it re-boots from the cd or dvd drive first instead of the hard drive.

    save and exit

    then re-install XP

if you keep booting from the hard drive you wont get to re-install xp
