I bought a veneer table at a yard sale, how do I make it shine & restore a worne spot short of varnishing it?

  1. I would go to a local home improvement store and get me a new piece of veneer and glue it to the existing table top and  finish it with the color of  my choice it would look brand new. Veneer is usually real thin and usually hard to try and fix

I've found using Guardsman furniture polish can restore the luster of wooden furniture.  As for the worn spot this is a tricky undertaking as you would have to know the type of finish(oil or water-based) and be able to to tint a matching stain and blend a repair.  Home Depot carries a furniture refinishing kit that is not as involved as you might think.  It is actually a finish restoring kit by Homer Formby and it is usu. kept in the paint dept.  Try it out!
