  1. You have no reason to worry. Varig may be bankrupt, but the Brazilian government is bent on not letting the company's customers down.

It says on a top Brazilian newspaper today that Varig's Administration Council is evaluating a selling proposal that guarantees that customers will not lose their tickets or mileage.

In case that the proposal is not accepted, the National Agency for Civillian Aviation (Anac) has elaborated a plan to distribute Varig's flight schedules among other companies. Those companies will have permission to make use of Varig's airplanes and crew, so as to not overload their own flights. Anac technicians have reported that 29 companies are available to absorb Varig's market and they guaranteed that no flights will be cancelled.

(that was a loose translation of the article that I quoted as my source)

  2. Most likely, they will continue to fly. However, if they don't, the best thing to do is call the airlines directly. They will be able to tell you what the situation is.

Hopefully you purchased travel protection when you booked your air, and they weren't in bankruptcy at the time. (I believe some of the more expensive plans do cover bankruptcy, but I'm not certain) If you purchased an insurance policy prior to this news, than they will cover any changes or cancellations caused by the bankruptcy. That way you will be able to get a new ticket and not have to pay for it, you will be reimbursed.

But the best thing is to call the airline to find out the situation. They will be able to give you any information you need to know.

    Hope this helps!

  3. I you don't fly on the same day you can sew the company and they proply will give you the money back
