Do I have any recourse? I just found my extended warranty, I forgot I had it. It was through the dealer, the ONLY place I have ever had work done on the car. When i found the warranty I searched through old bills and realized in 2006 i was charged $1400 for a water pump and timing belt that should have been under warranty. Do I have any recourse now?

  1. Go to the dealer and explain that you were charged for an item that should have been covered under your extended warranty and see if they will make it right.  It should have been in their computer or records.

  2. I think it has probably been to long, but take in the receipts and the proof of warranty to the dealer and tell them that you should have never been charged for the repairs. Ask them to credit you back...Ask nicely and hope for the best...You may get at least a partial credit..

Be nice, but firm in asking for your money back.

  3. Probably not - due to the length of the time that has elapsed, a court would probably believe that you had accepted the charge and agreed with it. You only have a limited time to rectify breach of contract claims.

  4. solitaire625, I've always purchased an extended auto warranty for every vehicle I've owned in the last 7 years.  I used to get them from the dealer, but lately it's cheaper to get them from a auto warranty company. http://www.autoadviceonline.com/Warranty... They offer free quotes, so it's easy to see how much one would cost for your car.

  5. If they want to get nasty about it, you could always threaten to litigate.  But time may not be on your side.  Ask an attorney if you can sue.
