I bought car insurance from another company, do I have to phone the old company and tell them?

I got tired of State Farm and switched over to Esurance. I have already paid for a 6 month policy, which started the same day my State farm policy ended. Do I have to phone State farm and tell them anything, or will they automatically close my account?

You should call State Farm so they don't cancel you for non-payment which could affect your credit rating

They'll cancel your account when you don't pay them.  If you are having the payment drafted from a bank account every month, tho, you will want to call them to ensure that the draft is not continued.

yes you need to call them.  You're policy will not just automatically cancel the day after your policy expires.  It can take 30-60 days.  At which time you will owe them money.  Just pick up the phone and call
