The package say's to cook them or freeze them by August 13th which is tomorrow. They are still in thier original package, is it still okay to cook them even though it's been about 5 days?

  1. If that is the date on them they will still be OK.

If they are a bit smelly though you may want to reconsider.

    If in doubt,

    Chuck 'em out.

  2. no 3 days max for any meat in fridge

  3. If they pass the smell test, go ahead. A lot depends on how cold your refrigerator is set. If you are at all worried still, cube them and cook them in broth (boiling) and not just pan fried or broiled. It ensures complete cooking. You can still serve them over noodles or put them in a stew.

  4. Yes, it's fine, either use by today or freeze.

  5. they should have been in the freezer.

  6. Well in theory they are suppose to be good.  If you have no odor coming from the package, they are probably okay.  I would suggest cooking them today, but if when you open the package and they smell funny, I would throw them out.

I generally only keep chicken in the refrigerator for up to 3 days, you can however follow package directions, if they are bad when you open them today, the store will refund your money.

  7. If you just put it in the fridge, you may need to be careful (meaning I wouldn't eat it).  Freezer, you should be fin.

  8. Yeah that should be fine to cook and also still freeze, always go of the dates.  But always still have a quick smell of the meat to make sure its ok.

Oh and also Use by dates have to used,

best before you can still eat after it just means the quality may not be as good.

Dont through it out give them to me.

  9. Always open your meat packages when you get home and put the slices or pieces of meat in small plastic bags.  Put them in your freezer.  That way you will be sure that the meat is ok to eat.

Test that 5 day old pack by smelling the meat in it. It should have an ok smell - if it does not or is revolting throw the meat away). Then touch it. It should not feel slippery.  When it is slippery the meat has spoiled and is full of bacteria.  Do not eat it.

    I hope that this helps.

  10. I think you should cook them tonight at the latest. But it depends on how cold your fridge is. If I were you, I would open the package and smell the chicken to see if it is starting to smell bad. If it is starting to smell rotten, don't cook it.
