Question:

I bought refrigerated rice cakes in soup base - in a Korean market but no English directions. How do you cook?

It was in refrigerator section ..but is in a cardboard cup like you find with Ramen Noodles.The picture shows adding the enclosed rice cake (like thick penne noodle size), soup base and water but have no idea how long to microwave? Anybody know?

  1. Those things are usually rubbery. You sure you want to be eating that?

I soups with ddeok in them - ddeok mandu guk is a fave - but haven't ever tried them in a ramen-style instant soup.  In regular preparation, though, they cook pretty quickly and don't need but maybe 5 minutes normally when added to a soup.  Rather than microwaving, try pouring boiling water into the cup, covering and letting it sit for about 3 or 4 minutes.  Good luck!
