I may not be home so does the mail man leave it? Does it fit in the mail box or is it a box that I have to pick up.

  1. Your shares are held in street name at Etrade.  It make them very convenient to buy and sell.  You can request a stock certificate if you so desire.  If you do Etrade will charge you for the service--about $35.  Yes, they will fit in the mail box.  It normally comes folded in 1/3 in a regular envelop or folded in 1/2 in an oversized envelop. The actual issuing of the certificate takes a couple of weeks.

  2. THEY don't... NOBODY get's the actual shares of stock they own any longer.  Companies have not issued actual, paper shares for at least 10 years now... and I know it's longer but I don't know how much longer.

Anyway... you will NEVER see the actual paper stock certificates.

  3. nothing is "sent". you hold them on paper. however, if you'd like to have a certificate stating how niave you are, I can mail one and nobody can steal that from you.:).
