I bought something on ebay with an echeque paypal has withdrawn money but the transaction is still uncleared?

i have bought something on ebay with an echeque and i waited a long time for paypal to finally do something. today i checked my bank account and paypal has withdrawn money but the transaction is still uncleared. What does this mean? is this normal or am i being screwed?

echecks can take about 3-5 days to clear.  Then the seller is notified that the item is ready to ship.  Shipping can take another 3 days if the seller ships right away so it can be 1-2 weeks to receive your item.  I would ask the seller if they received your funds.  Sometimes the funds are there in Paypal but they never show up in Ebay to let the seller know that it is OK to ship.
