Or to exchange it for the correct type? Even if I opened the package?

  1. They should honor you as a customer and exchange it. As long as you have the receipt.

  2. I worked at home depot and I know they will if you have the reset.  Does not matter if you opened it.

  3. you can take stuff back but hopefully you didnt destroy the box it came in

  4. Yes, we have returned all kinds of product we have purchased that after opening we found to be wrong or faulty.  They only give store credit so if you can't reuse it at the time, you can later.

  5. yes you can.

  6. If you bought it within the past 90 days you can return it for full credit, opened or not, and receive a refund of cash or credit to your credit card.  If you lost the receipt you will get store credit as long as the faucet looks new, opened or not.  If you paid with store credit or gift card, you will get store credit.

Even without a receipt IF you paid with a credit card, debit card or check they can look up the transaction and grant you a refund the same as if you had a receipt.
