I broke in the bathroom door. How do I fix it?

Things got a little.. heated.. today and I put my shoulder into a locked bathroom door. The door itself is fine, but one of the hinges split off of the moulding. The moulding near the bottom hinge needs to be replaced. Who should I call to fix this and about how much might it cost?

  1. It would all depend upon the police report. Hope nobody got hurt in the scuffle.

  2. you can do this! carefully pry the trim off both sides of the door. pop out hinge pins & remove door from frame.pry frame out. if you buy just new frame(jam) put old door on frame. place new frame in opening. from side door does not swing into check gap between door & frame. if hinge side needs to go up, shim under until gap is even. reuse old shims between hinge side of frame to ensure new frame will be in roughly the same spot. this will help with getting the trim back on old paint lines. use level to check for plumb. drive casing nails through shims into frame. shim latch side so that reveal is also  even(make sure you have a shim near strike plate). nail off that side. don't nail top. renail trim. go for it!
