I broke my big toe - how long do I have to wear a splint?

I went to the urgent care, and they put a splint on it that I'm not supposed to take off even when I sleep or shower - but I didn't ask them how long I'm supposed to wear it - days/weeks wise.

Any ideas

  1. well since u went to the er they just put something on there ill u make a appoiment with the docter that makes sure that it is brocken but just call and then once u get there they'll care for it

  2. Keep the splint on for at least one week, if you can two weeks is best.  You can go "splintless", provided you don't put any weight on your toe.  Check CVS, Rite-Aid, etc. for splints that are removable.

Ice for pain and limit putting weight on your toe as much as you can.  Hope you have a speedy recovery.

  3. I have broken several toes before and have never worn a splint before.

I suggest that you wear hard sole shoes such as tennis shoes for awhile.

  4. About half a year i broke my little toe and they taped my toe with the one next to it. I kept it on for about 2 weeks. So u should keep it on about 2-4 weeks ... Keep ur foot elevated . Get well :)

  5. i just broke my finger and they said that i have to keep my splint on for six weeks. i dont know if that helps but i hope it does. sorry about your toe! :)
