I got the piece that broke off and it's a perfect fit. Whats the best glue or substance for putting that zinc alloy type of thing back on. Liquid nails? Crazy glue? I'm in salt water Gulf o Mexico.

  1. tail on the prop...if you mean a piece of the pointy thing pointing down, you can run the boat without it, no problems.  It's main function is to deflect foreign objects away from the prop.

But eventually, welding is the answer.  Although, there's a product called "sked guard", google it, I never tried it but it might work.

  2. Here is the link you need;;http://skegprotector.com/

To weld, you have to pull the foot, and disassemble it. The heat will ruin bearings and seals if you don't. If it is just a small piece, it may be fine as is. I have one motor missing a chunk about the size of a half dollar on the very bottom.

  3. r u talking about the zinc tab by the prop? if so just replace it

    you cant glue it

    there made to be replaced

if thats what yor talking about

  4. You're going to need to have that welded.  If you go to someone good, you should have no problems, if you go to someone, not so good...well, you'll be replacing it.  As long as you've got the peice.  And no, none of the bonding epoxys are going to work for you.  JB weld, or any of that other stuff.  I wouldnt trust it for something like that.  And definately not crazy glue or liquid nails.

  5. Has to be welded.  Take it to a reliable prop shop.

  6. take it and have it welded,  it is the only (best)way, just drain all the oil first. should cost you about 100 if you take it to a prop shop, you could probably find someone cheaper if you look around. but like the other guy said you do not relly need it, but it is  a good idea to have it.
