  1. You should get a new one.

  2. Sounds like a dropped lens.

If its the stock 18-55mm then the good news is that a replacement can be bought very cheaply on ebay.

    Hardly worth attempting a repair.

Before you do that try another lens on the body and see what happens, if it functions fine then you are laughing.

It's worth doing this before you spend any money just in case the camera body has sustained some damage.

If the lens is set to AF and the lens fails to achieve focus, then the camera will not let the shutter fire.  You could switch the lens to MF and see if this frees things up, though it sounds very much like the lens will need scrapped in any case.

    Good luck

  3. Hi Diamond.  The first thing you should do is have a crying fit!!   No, I am just kidding but it sounds like you want to.   I can not be certain if you are talking about the lens or the camera.  If you are talking about the lens...  your camera is probably fine and the lens is malfunctioning.  If you are talking about the camera...  I am pretty sure anything bent can be re-adjusted.   If the camera turns on and you can access a picture from your card that you have already taken by looking into the monitor,  I really feel it is a minor adjustment for the camera.  If it is the lens.... that might be a different story..  but at least it isn't the camera, thank goodness.    Take your camera in to a camera repair store near you and get an evaluation of the problem and an estimation of the repair.   I don't think it is going to be all that bad.  Thanks for reading.
