I broke my fibula, the doctor decided not to put a cast on it. Is that a normal decision?

Broke it today, the doc said I could put full weight on it and that I don't need a cast, just that I'll be limping til october. This doesn't seem like a normal thing to do for someone with a broken leg. Shed some light on the subject?

  1. It is a hairline fracture most likely. It is not a true break. Just a crack along the outside surface. If you do not believe him, then go seek and pay for a second opinion.

  2. Go to a  different doctor.

  3. If it was just a fracture without the bone coming apart it is normal. The cast is usually just there to hold the leg immobile so the bone won't move. I broke my Fibula about 2 years ago and no cast just crutches and pain pills.
