I have a canon power shot SD1000 and it was in my purse without a case (stupid i know) and when i took it out the LCD of the screen was broken. Does anyone know if it would be more money to get the LCD fixed or just get a new camera? And if i should get it fixed.. where could i get it fixed?

  1. Your best bet would be to actually buy a new camera.  The manufacturer's warranty will not cover anything aside from defects in manufacture or material quality.  If you bought it with a protection plan through the retail store (for additional charges), then your camera will be repaired free of charge.

Otherwise, the standard manufacturer's warranty will NOT pay for the repair, no matter how recently you bought the camera.  The cause of the damage will be easily shown as impact damage.

I'd get a new camera, and either use a case, or get a camera that is shock-proof.

  2. It most likely will cost quite a bit of money if not under warranty. I might go get a new one and save the hassle.

  3. Try contacting Canon and seeing if they will replace it. I'm sure they will if its only within a few months or a year of purchase.
