Today I just tried to feed them, but my orandas ate all of it. And the blackmoors didnt go up to eat the food they remained in bottom swimming around. I also gave them food that sunk, but still my orandas ate it. My question is how on earth will I feed my blackmoors?

PS: Dont tell me to seperate my blackmoors from my orandas, i really feel that they are ok. And pls i dont want to give any divider in my tank. But just tell me how will i feed them.. (I dont want to hand feed them)

  1. Black Mores have problems with their eyes, so they have a much harder time getting food when others are in the tank, so I would suggest you:

    1. Distract the Orandas by putting food on the other side of the tank, and then feed the Black Mores separate on the other side of the tank. If they aren't scared of you, while the Orandas are distracted, you can even try hand feeding them.

    2. While the lights are off put in the food. Make sure you submerge the flakes in the water so that they sink. Then, maybe 5 minutes later, turn on thew lights and feed the Orandas, and hopefully your Black Mores will find the food at the bottom of the tank.

Good Luck, and I Hope You Enjoy Your Fish!

  2. Blackmoors are very slow feeders. Their big eyes make it harder for them to see... but in my experience they're slower than other fantail bobble eye fish.

I had blackmoors in with normal fantail goldfish, and it took a while to find a feeding pattern that worked. The fantail was so aggressive at feeding time that he'd literally steal the food out of the blackmoors mouth.

I found that feeding them a quarter of their meal, waiting a minute, putting another quarter in at the opposite end of the tank, waiting a minute, and then putting the last half in spread widely across the tank worked reasonably well.

Or, if I was in a hurry I'd put it all in at once but spread right across the tank's surface. The fantail was so busy trying to eat all the food at once that he didn't get much of it at all. By the time the fantail had figured out that madly grabbing wasn't working, the blackmoor had had a change to get some.

  3. Hi there it so so easy.......i use flakes for my carp that always stay at the bottom because it seems doesnt like food that is on top and also my goldfish consume them all so what i did was to use flakes that are stabed in a toothpick (note: u may stick the toothpick using tape to mke it longer in order to reach the bottom of the tank) and dont let ur orandas eat it if they try to. Just simply reach it for your blackmoore and they will probably eat it... hope i help!!!!!

  4. Just give them the flakes and sinking at the same time

You can also use a feeder ring, it might take a bit for them to get used to it, but once they get used to eating flakes out of the ring, you can sneak the food in on the other side of the tank that sinks for the black moore's

Goldfish are pigs, just give them an extra generous amount and up your water changes until they get used to the feeding ring.

    Hope this helps!
