what i mean is you get a cbr 600 FL or Fx etc i wanted to know what 1996 model is

The model # will be printed on the vin plate.

L side of bike - upper frame - near the front of the tank

The '96 model is CBR600F3

Your bike's "family tree" is this.

CBR600F's started in '87

'87 and '88's were called CBR600F HURRICANE

'89's Dropped the Hurricane Name,,,and were CBR600F

90 was F1

91 was F2

92 was F3

93 was F3

94 was F2

95,96,97,98 was F3

99 ,'00 was F4

'01 thru '06 was F4i ( i = fuel injected)

After '06,,,the CBR600RR replaced it...

The 600RR's had been around a few years,,,intro'd in '03

Model Changes,,Series changes,"Latest Model" being replaced by Latest Version of an Older,Different bike.

Engine size...600cc (roughly)

never heard of fl or fx just f2 f3 and f4 cbr600's. should say on the bike somewhere or on the title.

ACTUALLY  to the guy above me then engine displacement is 599CC because if the engine was a perfect 600CC the engine parts wouldnt line up right and there for it would  need a bigger motor...

thats what happened to the GSXR 750.  tried to get a few extra cubic centimeters ( CC) out of it and ended up having to push a bigger motor to handle the compression.

hah but yeah technicly the model of the bike is "CBR 600"  not just CBR.    yeah look it up on bike mechanics websites if yall think im BS'in
