  1. Only your insurance broker can give you exact information.  I am a broker and registrations agent.  I lost track of the number of times people came in and told me what the car salesman said, then were surprised when I told them the car salesman was wrong.  I actually phoned one dealership and told them to stop giving wrong information out, it was dangerous to the clients' financial well-being.

If you have full coverage on your policy, and you traded a car in, you likely have a certain number of days to transfer coverage, but you are only covered to the limits of your old policy.  In other words, if you trade a K-Car in for a Lamborghini, you could suffer a huge loss if you crash before paying the premium difference.  If you haven't traded, merely added another vehicle, you may or may not have provision to cover the newly acquired vehicle.

Rarely is it 30 days, (never with any policy I have dealt with) but it is all spelled out in your policy.  Nobody reads their insurance papers, they just sign, and then take the word of strangers on coverages.  Does that make sense?

As a broker, I never let clients, for home or auto insurance, leave the office without understanding the basics of the policy they pay for.

  2. You should have switched you insurance over immediately upon receiving you new vehicle.

  3. Yes, it is a "replacement car" as that term is used in your policy.  Call your insurance company right way though because it can take a while to do the paperwork to get the new car on the policy permanently and you don't want to lapse.

  4. it does cover you for 30 days, but only the exact same coverage you had...if you just had liability than that's all it will cover.

  5. Your insurance will only carry over till the next business Day after a new purchase, ( well most companies ) I have been involved with insurance for over 50 years and never heard anything about 30 Day carry over .You may be able to file a civil suit against the Dealer for advising false information , The fact is it is your responsibilty to insure your new vehicle the next business Day! All insurance companies have a 24 hour customer service that you can contact to at least leave a message. If you bought it on a Saturday, and crashed it on a Sunday, you should be covered ! Good luck !

  6. Nope, it will only cover you for 7 days. You are covered though, you need to call your insurance since it was your fault. Call them before the other guys insurance co. does.

  7. No it won't cover you.
