I burned a DVD using Nero, but my Sony DVD player does not play it.?

I am using Nero 7 ultra edition and SONY DVD disk (4.7 GB, I am not sure if it's DVD-R or DVD+R). I got some movies in Divx format and was trying to burn a DVD so that I could watch it on TV.

The Nero 7 I am using seems to be very easy to make a DVD. I selected "make movie", which showed me 3 options; Video, Super Video, and DVD. I selected DVD, followed simple procedure and finally clicked on "burn". While it shows movie on the display at the right upper corner, it shows the progress at the bottom. Finally, the burning process was done after about an hour. I put it in the Sony DVD player, which did not play it just saying "PLAYBACK CAN NOT BE PERFORMED BY AREA LIMITATIONS."

I am not sure if this is a regional code issue or different movie format issue. I am also wondering if the Sony DVD player does not play some types of DVD. Since I am using Nero English version, there shouldn't be an area issue.

I am so frustrated now because of this that got me almost whole day. Please help!

  1. OMG

the same thing happened to i tried but it didn't because your DVD player is to week to play the movie so you need to get a better DVD player

  2. Right and I have this problem too with my sony dvd play

download Convert X to DVD, and run it thru there.... it will convert it so a format that all DVD players will play.

  3. More than likely it has to do with the fact you used a DivX codec, and your Sony dvd player isn't supporting it.  Try downloading this program at www.magicdvdripper.com, this has several options that might be better for you.

  4. try this,

Total Video2Dvd Author can help you convert video to dvd simply and directly, work on home dvd player

    1. convert avi and other popular video formats (*.flv, *.divx, *.xivd, *.avi, *.wmv, *.mkv, *.rm, *.rmvb, *.3gp, *.mp4, *.mov, *.ts, *.ogm, etc.) to DVD or ISO image file.

    2. download youtube video or other video share website video, and burn it to dvd,

    3. include a lot of beautiful dvd menu template

    4. support photo slideshow to DVD,

    5. Supports .srt . sub .ssa .*** .smi .psb .tex .idx subtitles

  5. There are a number of possibilities, but they all come back to the fact that Sony are meticulous about implementing DVD standards in their players - any deviation and they don't play.  If you're going to get a lot of DivX material it's probably easiest and safest to just buy a new DVD player that can handle DivX.  That way you wouldn't need to do any time consuming and quality reducing conversions - just copy the files to a DVD and play them.  FWIW, the cheaper DVD players are built using generic PC components - they'll play anything!
