So I was cooking Ramen noodles and I burned my thumb with the boiling water. I've been icing it for 2 hours and I can't take it off the ice without excruciating pain. I applied aloe vera but it didn't help any. Wha can I do for it.

  1. tough **** run water under it :P

  2. antibiotic creme dear.  and a band aid.

  3. what u prob do is get cold ice water try that.

  4. Burn Be Gone. It's great as soon as you put it on it stops burning. You should be able to get it at most pharmacy's.

  5. Put your finger in a glass of cold water, not necessarily iced.

It will hurt for quite a while.

  6. Try Vaseline, if this does not help go to the doctor.

  7. I burnt my hand in a rich steamer the other day! Use ansebol, the stuff you would numb your teeth with when you have a tooth infection. ..

  8. Elevate it, and if you feel like going to emergency or a clinic, get a painkiller, otherwise you're doing all you can, and looking good, I mean the thumb is well taken care of.

OMG - had to edit:  no butter or vaseline, keep in water or ice, or use your aloe, not houshold remedies that are proven harmful.  Butter was 50 years ago, vaseline was 25.  Aloe is now.

  9. butter or   Katsup

  10. How long did you leave your thumb in the water?

Keep the ice on it - it should be fine.

If it still hurts tomorrow, get it looked at.

  11. apply ice on it

  12. I did the same thing and i was in the same situation...excruciating pain unless i held it in a bowl of cold water. It would start hurting again once the water warmed up so i had to change the water every once in a while.

This probably won't help much but I went to bed with my hand in that bowl of water and when I woke up in the morning my hand didn't hurt anymore. I don't know how long I had my hand in the water but I obviously removed it at some point in the night because it wasn't in the water when I woke up.

So maybe just give it some time.

  13. You just need to use your wand and cast Episkey! Duh!

  14. the pain will take a few hours  then it should start to feel abit better,[ rub butter into it]

  15. if I had a dollar for every time iv'e burned my hands/fingers in the kitchen.....

take it off the ice, it will hurt like heck for a bit but it actually makes the pain go away faster. take a couple of ibuprofen or aspirin and use triple antibiotic with a band-aid, it will stop hurting in a couple hours.

  16. apply HOT water as hot as you can tolerate as soon as possible after a burn (all old experienced cooks know to apply heat as quickly as possible) to minimize the damage.  MUCH less damage.

IF you have a homeopathic remedy like Cantharis and or Urtica urens 30C or 200C potency (I have a liquid remedy bottle on hand near the stove and I take the dose orally and on the wound so the pain goes away very quickly and do not have to resort to the heat method.

the Australian Bush Flower Essences Solaris is good for all kinds of burns as well and will speed healing.

The way I make a remedy bottle, using a dropper bottle from health food store or pharmacy and fill it halfway up with distilled water. Then add 1/4 vodka. I then add 3 pills of my chosen remedy and succuss 30 times (hit on the heal of my hand) then the dose is one drop. I hit the heal of my hand a couple of times between each dose.

IF in pain from a burn I repeat ever minute at first and less often as the drop lasts longer I do not take the remedy if I do not have any pain though. Keep away from electrical, magnetic fields. (lamps, computers and microwave sort of things.)

  17. how are you typing right now? huh? lol

  18. I am the queen of burning myself let me tell you Don't use butter the grease will only keep the heat locked into your finger... if you have vinger or pickle juice soak your finger for about 3-5 minutes this will release the heat and stop the finger from actually burning... Take some tylenol and just keep cool ice water in a cup to help until the tylenol kicks in but the vinger should get the sting out...
