I burnt a mark in my carpet and the area looks like its melted. Is there anything I can do to fix it?

Yes, find a closet and cut a small piece of your carpet from there that is slightly larger then the burn. Cut the burn out and test fit the new piece, trimming as needed to get an exact fit. Be sure to match the direction of the carpet's weave.

Using carpet tape (you can get a roll from Lowe's or Home Depot) line all four side and across the middle of the hole. Then place the new piece in place, the tape will hold it from below. Almost instant repair.

CALL A CARPET CLEANING SVC. TO COME OUT AND PATCH IT,THEY WILL TAKE A SECTION FROM A CLOSET OR SOMEWHERE LIKE THAT AND PUT IT WHERE THE BURNT SPOT IS,I HAVE IT DONE ALL THE TIME(APARTMENT RENTAL CO.)IF YOU GET A GOOD CO. TO DO IT ,YOU CANT EVEN TELL WHERE IT WAS.

Get a safety razor and scrape away the burnt part. Now go to a piece of the carpet that isn't noticeable and using the same razor gently scrape away enough of the carpet to cover the hole. What you should have  is not a piece of carpet but sort of a ball of fuzz from the carpet. Take this ball and glue it into the burnt area of your rug. It will cover

up both the hole and the burnt area and no one will really be able to tell the difference.

If it's a small area, you may be able to cut out the burned part and sort of "fluff" the carpet in that area.

If it's too big or too deep to do that, you can hire someone to cut out and replace the area with a patch of the same carpeting and blend it so you can't tell, but if it's a high traffic area that's worn or irreversibly stained it won't look right.

Maybe shampoo/clean the carpet and then brush it dry.

After brushing try vacuuming it too.

It might look better.
