I bought the new digital converter box for the analog TV in my kitchen. I get some channels I didn't get before but a few of the channels I did get before I can't access now. I have to disconnect the box to still get them. I get the main channels but not some of the UHF channels.

  1. You most likely will need a better antenna (roof type).  The links below will tell you what digital stations are in your area, how high their antennas are, how much power they are transmitting with and which direction from you they are, and what all of that info is expected to be after the February transition.

I suspect you are in a weak signal area for the channels you are having trouble with.

  2. What do you mean?
