Okay, here's the deal. My internet works fine for 99% of the internet. It was just maybe 2 weeks ago that everything started getting weird. Now, I have a hard time accessing certain sites like amazon, ebay, and myspace.

Basically when I try to go to that site, the browser doesn't load the page. The status bar will just stay still, or sometimes it will just say the page is unavailable. I had a hard enough time just trying to get to this site to post this message! I think it has something to do with sites that have security with logging in or something

So, I've gone through many different things to try to get these to work. I've tried cleaning out my computer, thinking it could be a virus or something. That didn't work, because I have another computer that shares the same wireless connection, and it has the same problem. I tried fiddling with the settings of my Linksys router, and changing the MTU setting. I don't really know what I'm doing, but I read that it was supposed to help. It didn't.

I'm pretty sure it has something to do with my router, since both computers have trouble accessing those sites. Then again, I could be wrong. I'm running Windows XP, and using Firefox 3 if that matters. Please help me figure this out! It's driving me crazy!!!

  1. Leave MTU at 1500.

Try reseting your router by unplugging it for like 30 seconds then replugging it. If that dont work try a factory restore in the routers configuration page or on the back of the router there is a small hole where you can stick a paper clip or toothpick in at press a small button in there to factory restore. You will have to setup your encryption again after the factory restore (if wireless). Unplug your pc's from the router before doing these steps then plug back in after each step to check.

  3. My guess is that the problem is in the router. What I suggest you do is reset the router to factory setting and then resetting the router to your information (user-name, password, etc.)

  4. clea

  5. try the router. the same thing happend to me last week. it even got to be as bad as when i was in the middle of something, the screen would freeze. got a new router! fixed the problem.

  6. How about because Firefox doesn't support active-x controls? Or maybe because Firefox is a non-compliant browser? Even if Chevy did make a better radio, that doesn't mean it would work better in a Ford. Stop hating microsoft and use internet explorer. If you hate microsoft enough to use Firefox then just get a Mac. Macs are way better than PC's, they don't work, but they're better, just ask any idiot who uses one.
