I started working last month because I need money for braces. I only get like 200 dollars a month. I talked to my dentist and she said that my braces would cost about 5000 since I want invisalign. I know it cost more but no matter what people tell me I'm not getting regular braces because it's my senior year and Im going to be in a pageant in a couple of months and if I had regular braces it would kill me! My mom said that if I want braces I'll have to give her my whole paycheck every month and that if I can't afford it then that's my own problem. I've talked to her about it so many times and she said the most she'll put in is 50 dollars. I don't think I can afford it! Will my dentist maybe understand my situation?

  1. When I got my braces, I got a loan from a company that was just for braces loans.  I think my payments were about $134 a month, but I didn't get the invisalign.  Your Orthodontist should know how to apply for that type of loan if you're interested.

  2. wait till after your pageant and then get regular ones...they are 4000 bucks less...or you can just start selling yourself on the street

  3. Pay it in installments if your dentist allows it?

  4. save

  5. Well, remember if your mom has insurance, she could pay with your money and her insurance would pay a percent off of it.

Go to your insurance and your dentist, get estimates on both. And add up how much  money you will end up paying.

Also just by the way invisalign takes longer to move your teeht. But anyways wahtever lol.

And your dentist will probably not give you a discount, because remember its to pay for the emergency bookings, the tooth care, allt he equipment, the materials she will need to do it, and all your bookings. It covers wayy mroe then that too, They are really strict about pricing

Good luck though. Im stuck with reg braces but only for 6 months, and ive already knocked down 5. :D.

  6. Can't you work two jobs?

  7. If you just push on your teeth in the direction that you want them to go they will eventually go into place.  It worked for me!

  8. first you should talk to your dentist and see if he will give you a resonable price or a discount or somthing thing.

then if that doesnt work you can set aside 50% of wat you make into a savings account and wait till you have enough money to afford the braces

or try buying stock for 100 dollars and make some profit!

    hope this helps :]]

  9. I worked with a girl who financed the braces after putting a small down payment down. I have also heard of people getting a line of credit. The payments for $5000 would not be $200. Good luck

  10. sucks. Get a rich guy to fall in love with you and have him pay. duhhh :]

  11. My braces cost $7,665.  No lie, no joke.  And I'm paying for them.

So, what I did was got a healthcare loan from CapitalOne.  I dragged it out to 5 years of payments, and mine is 155 a month.  Thats on the total I mentioned.  Obviously, yours would be significantly less, and if your mom put in 50 dollars, the burden on you would be a lot smaller.

There is also a CareCredit option, they do things that aren't covered through health insurance, like cosmetic dentistry.  I decided not to use that option so I don't know much about it, but I'm happy with my CapitalOne option because it let me get the braces.  You will most likely have to put it in your mom's name because it does require an income higher than students or kids make...it would just be the both of you paying on it.

  12. Your dentist won't care (as in it's your problem). If you can't afford to get braces now, get them next year. Save. You need to examine your priorities because to be honest with you, a pageant is NOT the most important thing in the world, and you could just drop out of it and get the braces if they're so important to you. Also, you should NEVER get ANYTHING you CAN'T AFFORD!! I think you really need to take care of your teeth. No one will hate you if you're not in the pageant and you'll at least be able to have straight teeth and you'll be taking care of YOU.

If you NEED to get them right now, ask if you could pay in installments. If not, talk to him about any other possibilities. The regular braces should be better for you because it won't take too long to save for them and I'm glad your mother doesn't give in. Good for her, I'm happy to see that at least one mother out there is doing the right thing!

  13. Some dentists do take payment plans.   However, on $5,000 of dental work, they will probably want more than $200 a month.  That's life.  Sorry.  I still have crooked teeth because of the cost of orthodontia.

  14. try to find thesepeople online that

    give you bargins

there really good you trade them something just to fix your teeth

  15. Do you have insurance? It will usually cover invisalign up until you are 19 years old.  Also, I was thinking of getting them as well and like you I don't make a lot of money. My dentist said that they have payment plans for people how can't afford them up front.  I think that you should as your dentist if they have some.  Good luck.
