  1. You can buy a limited benefit health insurance plan.  What you can get with these plans depends on what state you live in.  There are a wide variety of possibilities so shop around.  Some plans only pay after you pay a very high deductible, some may only pay if you go into the hospital, while other plans pay a standard amount depending on the type of service.

Try googleling limited benefit health insurance plans.

Some states also have plans for those not covered by group insurance.  In Michigan, we have a program for children.  I think it's called MIChild and you pay $5 per month for it.  There are also other programs for adults.  Check your state's web site or contact someone in a state department that has the word "health" in it.

  2. Forget the health insurance, do cool people need it?

  3. One way to find very cheap health insurance is to purchase an individual health insurance plan with a very high deductible (maybe an HSA plan).

This way the premiums are very low because of the high deductible and if God forbid you develop cancer or something major happens then you will still be taken care of.

I have seen some plans with high deductibles cost as little $40 month or so. Be sure and compare quotes from multiple insurance companies to find the best deal for your particular situation.
