I have a bill from the doctor for $1263, and there's no way I can afford to pay it. I only work part time. I don't have anyone to pay it for me. What can I do?

  1. Call the doctor's office, explain your situation, ask for a discount as a self-pay or private-pay patient, and ask them to work with you to set up a payment plan that you can reasonably manage.

  2. Make payment arrangements. You can only pay what you can and even if it a small amount every month it is better than nothing

  3. Call and explain your predicament.  Most will make arrangements.  Some payment is better than none.

Most doctors will take 40 cents on the dollar if you have no insurance.

  4. arrange payments with the drs. office so it doesnt get turned over for collections and affect your credit score

  5. Yup payment arrangement right away. Call and tell them exactly what you can afford and pay them month to month based on that arrangement. Most doctors won't charge interest if you take the initiative to arrange the payments.

Either that .....or move to Canada :)
