I am doing plenty of research on rv's and how to maintain them, mechanical needs, etc, and I can't afford a new RV- In fact, I would love it if I could just pay cash of $10,000 and be done with it, but I don't want to get a crappy rv. I am seeing a lot of older rv's- from 1996-2000, with miles between 3,000-15,000, and I am tempted to look at buying one of those, especially because they are in the more affordable range of $10,000-$15,000. What doyou think is best?

  1. RV's typically have low mileage compared to cars the same age. People use them, a lot of times, as a vacation vehicle so they don't get driven as much. Then too they're driven to a destination, parked and a towed car is used to sight see. I have seen a lot of old motor homes that are well maintained and will last many more years. You just have to do your homework and make sure that it doesn't have problems. I'd recommend having a mechanic check out the running gear if you find one you're considering buying.

  2. used RVs because of their poor gas mileage are a bargain right now what you are looking at can be had for lower just take the RV to a dealer to have him check it out before you buy it well worth the money i would not even look at new right now

  3. With the RV market in the tank right now, buying used is a very smart choice.  Today your $10,000 will buy an RV that only 6 months ago may have sold for $15,000.  There is no end in sight for this slide, so buy wisely and get the most for your money.  I don't know if you could swing something quite as new as you stated (maybe 96 or 97 - depends on the RV). Certainly you should be able to buy a very good RV for your money.  Make sure you have it checked out thoroughly though.  RV refridgerators run $1000 and generators up to $4000.
