Question:

I can't apply to Brown if I've taken only 2 years of foreign language???

I gave up foreign language my junior year so that I could take 2 science classes instead. According to College Board, Brown requires 3 years of foreign language for admission. Any chance they'll see I have extra science classes and I can still be accepted?

  1. Well, check with Brown directly.  They are a heavy liberal arts school, and most of them require three years of language.  If it is a definite requirement, say you'll take the third year in an accelerated summer session (if you can find one).  If everyone else has three years, you are at a distinct disadvantage, even if the school doesn't "require" it.  You would indicate your extra science in your essays, in any event.

  2. The College Board is retarded. Just apply. As if it'll honestly make THAT much of a difference. Extra science classes sounds better than learning verb tenses for another year.

  3. no if they do require it they require it...college board might be wrong i would apply anyways..brown doesnt care if you have one extra science class many kids prob did have the same thing (have 5 science credits)

  4. Take a third year online. The ivies want you to be cultured.
